Why We Brought Our Own

Birthday parties. School events. Vacations. Restaurants.

We learned early that if our kids were going to feel included and safe, we often needed to show up with our own food, treats, snacks, soaps, and travel essentials.

Over time, “we brought our own” became more than a habit. It became our lifestyle.

This site is where I share the recipes, products, and practical systems that have helped our family navigate food allergies with less stress and more normalcy.

Hi, I’m Meredith – Food allergy mom since 2011

For 15 years, I’ve been raising kids with dairy, tree nut, peanut, sesame, and mustard allergies — along with a few intolerances that keep things interesting. Most of our recipes are gluten- and corn-free, too.

Here, I share what’s worked for our family: practical tips, products we love, and allergy-friendly recipes that make everyday cooking (and traveling) feel easier and safer.
